What Is Prayer?

Prayer is our connection to God. It is how we communicate with our Heavenly Father and it is one of the ways we spend time with him. Prayer does not have to be flowery or verbose, but rather simple, heartfelt and sincere.
Jesus taught his disciples that prayer was a way of honoring God by declaring his greatness and expressing our gratitude. Jesus also said prayer can be used to ask for forgiveness for our failures; provision for our needs; and strength for our difficulties.
The Bible also tells us that we are to pray for other people when they are discouraged or sick and to pray against evil that works against God's purpose in the world.
Prayer is a powerful and effective gift and all we have to do is use it!

Many praises to our Lord for Myron's great recovery from his stem cell transplant in June 2011. Just an update that he is on a chemo maintenance pill and not experiencing any side effects that we know about. Our God is an awesome God! Thank you to 2nd church of christ people for praying for him. We love our church.

cancer has returned

two years ago connie had a breast removed because of cancer. it now has come back in her bones. she started chemo again this past thursday

Pray GOD shows me how to give Mercy the way GOD would want me to.Pray GOD gives me a milllion times more Mercy than i can give.Pray GOD gives me the HOLY SPIRIT real strong over my life,body,mind,soul and spirit.Pray GOD gives me the Faith to move mountains.Pray all these things will be fulfilled in the Name of JESUS CHRIST our LORD.

Urgent prayer for my niece, Cathy Champion House

Just received phone call from my sister in Dover, DE that her daughter Cathy, who lives in New Jersey is threatening to take her life ~ took overdose of medication ~ can't cope with health issues, and stresses at work. Family desperately needs prayers.

I just want to Praise and Thank God for all of our blessings with Myron going through Stem Cell Transplant for Mutiple Mylenoma Cancer at Barnes in St. Louis. He has done exceptionally well under God's care and all the people in church praying for him. There is power in prayer! PRAISE THE LORD!

Please pray for Lisa Keller, she was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Lisa will be having surgery in 2-3 weeks in St. Louis, followed by 6 months of chemo/radiation treatment. Am sure her husband, Bill, and their children would also appreciate prayers to our Almighty Physician/Comforter. Thank you!, Stasi

Aunt's 41 year old Nephew

Thanks for the prayers for my Aunt's Nephew who had the multiple heart bypasses - he is at home recuperating - the surgeon said they did many bypasses (6) but could have done more as this 41 year old has a "sick heart". Thank you for your prayers for the nephew for surviving the lengthy surgery and for his recovery time! Really appreciate your concern for those you've never met in their time of great need!

We are now living in Springfield, Mo where we have family. We are thankful for a safe move. We have been attending a Christian Church here tha was on the list that Drew gave us.Keep Bob in your prayers for his health.

Please pray for my Aunt's 41 year old Nephew (on her side of the family) as they just found out today that Wesley needs a 6 heart bypass = surgery scheduled for Wednesday, June 15th, in Urbana. Thanks!
