Ministries Within:
This group of women visits our at-home and nursing home shut-ins on a weekly basis. Some women choose to visit on an individual basis while others team up with friends. They also remember them with cards on birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions. We have twelve groups of shut-ins that need to be cared for.
New Beginnings is a ministry to the brides in our congregation. We provide a beautiful "Bride's Box" containing devotional books and gift items for the bride and groom. We are also available for mentoring or counseling during the first year of marriage.
Widow's Might is a ministry for the widows of our congregation and community. They meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month for lunch, fellowship, fun and mutual encouragement.
Other ministries provided through women's programs include: Meals on Wheels (delivered in June of each year), Pleasant Meadows Christian Village Ministry, and Funeral Dinners.
Three Women's Circles are available to meet the needs of the women of the church. A "Circle" is on call for one month at a time. While on call, they provide as needed the following services; child care, transportation, cleaning, yard work, hospital visitation, prayer, welcome to new members and first time visitors, card and phone ministry, and meals for the sick.
Women's Gatherings are scheduled each year. Often the gatherings are planned and hosted by women of the church. Other times a guest speaker and a meal may be provided. Favorite gatherings include Craft Night in the fall and Ladies Luncheon in the Spring. All of the women of the church are invited and encouraged to attend these special times of fellowship.
The purpose of the Welcome Home Committee is to provide help, support, and encouragement to new mothers during the first few weeks after a baby's arrival. A gift basket for mom, dad, and baby (including a coupon for free babysitting), home cooked meals as needed for two weeks, calls, visits, and parenting aids are provided. Welcome Home also follows the child through the first year until the 1st birthday.
