Not a fan is more than just a series here at 2CC. Not a fan is more than just a small group study. Not a fan is more than just a Church-wide campaign with fancy banners and signs. Not a fan is a change in mindset for many of us.

One of the goals of the “not a fan” series is to get us to move beyond being just fans. As we have already discussed, a fan is an enthusiastic admirer, and Jesus doesn’t ask for admirers. Jesus calls us to follow him. Luke 9:23 says this, “Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’” If we choose to follow him we must deny ourselves and take up our cross daily. Being a follower of Jesus is not something you decide to do, and then forget about it a few days later. Being a Follower requires commitment and passion.

As followers of Jesus we now understand that He wants everyone to follow Him. He doesn’t just call people like you and me, but he wants everybody. As we continue on throughout this month studying “not a fan,” you need to make a choice. You need to decide if you are a fan or a follower, and if you don’t like the answer then do something about it. Make the decision to be a follower of Jesus today!
