Name: Kiley Garrison

Known aliases or nicknames? People close to me just call me “Ki.”

Staff Position? Student Minister, overseeing high school and college age

How long at current position? Since July of 2003

Family? I’m married to the fantastic Michelle (Chel) Garrison.  She is my right hand in life and ministry.  In my opinion, we have 3 of the coolest kids on the planet – twin girls, Abbey and Becca (born in 2001), and a son, Stephen (born in 2004).

Favorite restaurant? It’s a toss-up...Cracker Barrel or Outback.  But if I'm in Chicago, I'm definitely stopping at Maggiano's Little Italy!

Favorite book? Tony Dungy’s “Quiet Strength.”

Favorite Scripture? Romans 8:38-39, Proverbs 28:26, John 10:10

Favorite sport? Football – Go Colts!

Favorite candy? Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

If you were a super hero, what would your super power be? It would be pretty cool to be able to turn back time.  Now that I’m older and wiser, I could think of a few things I would have done differently.

Personal Quirks? Some people say I can be a bit of a perfectionist about somewhat insignificant things.  And I love to listen to sermons on Podcast.  Is that weird?

Collect anything? Indianapolis Colts stuff.

Favorite vacation spot? I’m not picky, just give me a warm place to hang out with my family.

What you love about Second? Second is made up of amazing people who are just trying to love God and love people.  I have a great group of friends to do ministry with and an awesome group of students to share life with.

A little more about me: I thoroughly enjoy being a husband, dad and Student Minister.  I graduated from Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College) in 1996 with a degree in Youth Ministry and Preaching.  People often ask me when I’m going to “move up” or “promote” to being a Senior Minister, but I feel like God called me into Student Ministry, and I want to do it for as long as I can.  If God can still use me to reach students when I’m in my 50’s, I’d love it.  I just hope I have the wisdom to step away if and when it’s time.

I'm a simple guy, really.  I'm always up for a game of Ping Pong.  I like to play guitar and piano, although I'm not great at either one.  I love movies and music.  I'm a huge Indianapolis Colts fan.  When I have the time and money, I enjoy working on my house.  I'm a total people person, and I love to make people laugh.  I enjoy learning new things and teaching people about the Bible.  My relationship with Jesus is one of the most important things in my life.  I want to know Him, pursue Him, live for Him and love Him.  More than anything, I want people to see Jesus in me and reflect who He is in the way I choose to be.
